Collaboration between Network and TAP to strengthen vulnerable social groups

Network of Social Solidarity & Assistance and the Trans-Adriatic Natural Gas Pipeline (TAP) proceeded to the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation today, Thursday, 05 May 2016.

During the press conference, the President of Network of Social Solidarity & Assistance, Mr. Nikolaos Pentzos, among other things, stated: “through the memorandum, a very important development organization for our country, such as TAP, decided to trust Network for the implementation of programs to support vulnerable social groups “.

Consequently, Mr. Pentzos stressed that today’s signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between Network and TAP is a practical recognition of Network’s contribution to the social events of Northern Greece. The cooperation between TAP and Network, according to Mr. Penzo, will certainly be added to the silent implementation of CSR actions.

At the same time, Mr. Pentzos reminded that the mission of Network is to connect the business community with organizations that offer social work, especially to children and young people, such as the purchase of 9-seater buses for the Greek Children’s Village in Filiro and the Care Association of the Child of Katerini and the purchase of a car for the Municipal Nursery “Agios Stylianos”. In December 2015 – February 2016, approximately € 100,000 were given to cover the needs of 17 institutions, not only in the region of Thessaloniki but also in the wider region of Central Macedonia, as well as € 17,000 for food in more than fifty institutions, meals and intermediary bodies.

On the part of TAP, the Country Manager Greece, Mr. Rikard Scoufias, stated the following: “Today’s signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with Network makes us very happy, as it allows us to immediately implement Social Investment Programs in Northern Greece. “As it is known, TAP has voluntarily committed to investing millions of euros in the next 4 years in CSR programs in the regions of Western Macedonia, Central Macedonia and Eastern Macedonia-Thrace, through which the pipeline will pass.”

Regarding the Memoranda of Cooperation with Network, Mr. Scoufias added: “The beginning of the cooperation with the Network will be done through donations in kind, totaling € 100,000, to various social organizations, to support the needs included in the TAP CSR axis to improve the quality of life of local communities.”

Finally, he stressed that “Network is a valuable partner for TAP, as through the active relationships it maintains with local communities, it can contribute to finding and implementing worthwhile social investment programs. “Through this strategic partnership, TAP will meet the tangible needs of local communities, focusing on vulnerable social groups, who are particularly affected by the current socio-economic environment.”
