Network Award at the Annual Sustainability Summit 20’

A special award for Network of Social Solidarity & Assistance at the Annual Sustainability Summit 20′ from the CSE Sustainability Center and the MBA International of the Athens University of Economics and Business. Network and its President – Mr. Nikolaos Pentzos – received the special award in the Corporate Responsibility Programs that stood out in the middle of the pandemic for their social impact and innovation.

 

The Annual Sustainability Summit was held with great success on October 13, organized for the 5th consecutive year by the MBA International of the Athens University of Economics and Business in collaboration with the Center for Sustainability (CSE). The title of this year’s conference was “Sustainable Recovery: Challenges and Opportunities” and was attended by distinguished business executives, representatives of the European Commission, professors, students, and graduates of the Athens University of Economics and MBA International, from Greece and abroad.

 

This year’s event aimed to describe the problems caused by the unprecedented health crisis and how businesses and the State can respond to a recovery sustainably and responsibly. The event was opened by Professor Eric Soderquist, Director of the MBA International Program (MBA) and coordinated by Nikos Avlonas, President of the Center for Sustainability (CSE) and Visiting Professor of Corporate Responsibility at MBA International and Vice President of CRI.

 

The event hosted important speakers, such as Mr. Chris Allen – Representative of the European Commission in Greece, Mr. George Moschovis, Deputy Head of the European Commission Delegation to Greece, and Mr. Zacharias Ragousis, President and CEO of Greece.

 

The event presented and commented for the first time the second edition of the book Practical Sustainability Strategies: How to Gain a Competitive Advantage (Wiley) by Nikos Avlonas, which was recently published in America and is circulating internationally and is already used by major universities in America and Europe.

 

The speakers, after commenting on the importance of the book Practical Sustainability Strategies and the practical solutions it provides for Sustainable Development, stressed that Greece has huge prospects both from the use of the European Commission Recovery Package and due to the quality of its human resources.

 

At the same time, N. Avlonas presented the Initiative of the CRI Institute for Corporate Responsibility for “For a responsible and sustainable recovery”, in the framework of which Greek companies were called to declare their support with the ultimate goal of consolidating sustainable development practices in state planning. and the recovery package to be made available by the European Union, in line with respective European and international initiatives.

 

Also, at the event was presented the research of the i-MBA Sustainable Development and Circular Economy Club for Greenwashing, highlighting the problems created by the lack of responsible communication and good practices in Greece.

 

Special distinctions were given to Corporate Responsibility Programs that stood out during the pandemic for their social impact and innovation. The companies and institutions that were awarded among Network of Social Solidarity & Assistance, Barba-Stathis, the Alumil Group, Eurolife FFH, the Athanasios K. Laskaridis Public Benefit Foundation and. A distinction was also given to a student of the MBA International Program.
